Hair Colors Still Trending in 2022

It’s Not Too Late for a New Hair Color in 2022

Our blog this month is about hair colors still trending in 2022, even though the year’s almost over. At Pure Excellence Hair Design, we know it’s never too late to try a new hairstyle or color. As you’re preparing for the holiday season, don’t forget about taking some time for you! In March, we shared trends for 2022 for either mid-length, long, or short hairstyles. Regardless of which 2022 hairstyle trend you’ve chosen for yourself, you could also consider a trending hair color like a:

  • Muted Blonde
  • Warm Brunette
  • Mahogany Red
  • Jewel Tone

Try a Muted Blonde, Warm Brunette, or Mahogany Red for a Change-Up

Hair colors trending in 2022 include muted blondes, warm brunettes, and mahogany reds. Going from blonde to red, brunette to blonde, or red to brunette, or any combination, can be exciting and confidence-boosting. When deciding on a hair color to try, it’s important to first determine your skin tone. How do you do that?

Selecting the Right Hair Color for Your Skin Tone

Look at the veins in your wrist. Blue and purple veins indicate cool tones. Green indicates warm. And a mix of blue, purple, and green indicate neutral. It’s important to select a hair color to coincide with your skin tone. Your hair color should be two shades darker or lighter than your skin tone, so you avoid looking washed out.

Choose a Warm Brunette or Muted Blonde if You Have a Cool, Pale Skin Tone

If your skin tone is cool and pale, we suggest you opt for a warm brunette or muted blonde hair color. Warm brunette shades range from sandy or bronze to chestnut or toffee. Neutrality and blending make blonde shades muted blonde options. Ash and beige are popular muted blonde hair colors.

Mahogany Red Works Well with Warm, Cool, or Neutral Skin Tones

Different shades of red complement all manners of skin tones. Mahogany red gets its name from a type of wood with a reddish brown hue. Whether you have warm, cool, or neutral skin tones, mahogany red works because it has both warm and cool undertones. Mahogany red is also a great color to combine with highlights.

Mix a Combination of Jewel Tones for a Different Hair Color Experience

Also trending for 2022 are jewel tone hair colors. If you’ve tried various blonde, red, or brunette shades and still want a different look, try mixing jewel tones. The term “jewel tone” derives from those colors in rubies, emeralds, sapphires, amethyst, and other gemstones. Jewel tone hair color shades vary widely, including diamond white, opal pink, teal, fuchsia, eggplant, and more.
