Good Hair Colors for Fair Skin, Medium Skin, & Deep Skin Tone
Most people have one of three skin tone types: fair skin, medium skin, and deep skin. Fair skin describes a skin tone usually considered the lightest natural shade. Medium skin tone is just that—a medium between fair and deep. Deep skin typically means darker skin tones, like olive, Mediterranean, light brown, or light black.
Hair Colors that Complement Fair Skin, Medium Skin, and Deep Skin
Lighter hair colors, like icy blonde, go well with fair skin, as do ash, sand, and beige blondes. Those with medium skin tone can try almost any hair color, but natural-looking hair colors look best with medium skin. If you’re a natural redhead with medium skin tone, consider a light brown or strawberry blonde. Dark hair colors and deep skin tones pair nicely, depending on the undertone.
Note: Deep skin isn’t the only skin tone with which to consider matching undertones. All skin tones have various undertones.
Match Your Skin Tone and Undertone to Find the Perfect Hair Color
Just as there are three skin tone types, so are there three undertones—warm, cool, and neutral. Deep skin, medium skin, and fair skin can have either warm, cool, or neutral undertones. Because skin tone and undertones vary widely, hair colors can be hard to match. In general, cool undertones look best with cool hair colors and warm undertones with warm hair colors. Those with neutral undertones can experiment with various hair colors.
